🎸 Had the BEST time at the Southern Culture on the Skids concert in Newport! 🎶 My buddy Ted introduced me to the band, and I even got pics with all three members. They played 27 songs over 2 hours, including some rare tracks I'd never heard live before. Their performance was incredible, and their sound just keeps getting better!
Rick's guitar skills are 🔥, Dave’s drumming on a stand-up cocktail kit is fantastic, and their voices are stronger than ever. I brought my old box set of 45s, and they all autographed it – they were so appreciative I got it when it first came out!
Rick even agreed to be on our podcast! While taking a pic, he joked, "Say irritable dad syndrome," and we all had a good laugh. Libby was dancing her heart out and having the time of her life! 💃
We made new friends, Carol and Joe, who were super nice about letting Libby, who’s recovering from back surgery, join us up front. Everyone was so welcoming!
The opening act, Laidback Country Picker, was unforgettable. With his crazy mutton chops and V-neck guitar, he blew everyone away. His drummer, Honey, looked like my grandma but could seriously rock those drums. They were a hoot!
During the SCOTS show, they handed out banana pudding, chicken, and oatmeal cream pies – it was a blast! 🍗🍌🥧 Laidback Country Picker and Honey even joined the fun on stage.
If Southern Culture on the Skids comes to your town, grab a $20 ticket and GO! You won't regret it. 🎟️
