I've probably shared this story before, but here it goes again! Back in the day, I worked at an oil refinery. Let's call this guy Lonnie Stevens (not his real name). Lonnie was a stickler for the rules. Breaks were 15 minutes, no more, no less. He'd even check on senior operators to make sure they were following the rules, but never the engineers. At this refinery, engineers were like the aliens in the movie "Aliens" – when they showed up, everyone's demeanor changed.
So, us labor crew guys decided to have a little fun. We got a stencil of Lonnie Stevens' name and started putting it everywhere: reactors, storage tanks, trucks, the mess hall, parking lot – you name it. Lonnie was furious! Every summer, we had contests to see who could find the most creative spot for Lonnie's name. It drove him nuts and made us laugh our heads off.
Even years later, Lonnie would still find his name in random places. It was the prank that kept on giving! To this day, I know there are still spots in that refinery with Lonnie Stevens' name on them. If you ever pass by a refinery up north, just know that somewhere out there, Lonnie Stevens' name is still making someone chuckle.
